Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and help restore your smile. While dentures may take some time getting used to, and will never feel exactly the same as one's natural teeth, today's dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever. The loss of all of your natural teeth, whether from gum disease, tooth decay or injury causes your facial muscles to sag, causing you to look and feel older. Replacing these missing teeth with dentures can help fill out the appearance of your face and profile while also making it easier to eat and speak.
There are two main types of dentures: Full and Partial.
Conventional Full Denture - are places in your mouth once all remaining teeth have been removed and the tissues have healed. Healing may take several months and during this time you are without teeth.
Immediate Full Denture - are placed immediately following the removal of any remaining teeth. Adjustments and relining of the denture is required several months after initial placement.
Partial Denture - rests on a metal framework and and attaches to remaining teeth.
